Barcelona seeks to restore defense by "34-year-old"

After the injury of Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen and Samuel Omtiti, Spanish reports revealed that the Catalan club seeks to compensate for this shortage in the back line by concluding an unexpected deal.
Local club Elmondo Deportivo said the club was considering signing Zenit St Petersburg's Russian striker Branislav Ivanovic on loan during the January transfer window.

The 34-year-old has known fame through Chelsea, who has been named for nine seasons, and has won the English Premier League title three times and the Champions League once, but his decline and age make him a surprise choice for the Spanish champions.

But the old player appears to be an alternative to Barcelona if he fails to sign Ajax Amsterdam defender Mathis De Light in January.

Elmondo Deportivo said Athletic Bilbao defender Onai Nunez and Getafe defender Deny DaConam were also on the list to restore Barcelona's defense in recent matches.

Ivanovic moved to St. Petersburg last year, returning to the Russian league 10 years after his departure from Moscow's Lokomotiv.
