Chelsea beat Southampton with a clean thump and progress to the lead temporarily
LONDON (Reuters) - Chelsea won the English Premier League with a 3-0 victory at Southampton before the Manchester City and Liverpool World Cup, while Arsenal won their ninth victory in their last nine games with a 1-0 win over Fulham. Sunday.
At St Marys, Chelsea made their first win after two drawings with West Ham and Liverpool and returned with a comfortable win over Southampton to head for a few hours because regardless of the outcome of the top game they would concede first place to either side.
Chelsea have 20 points, one ahead of Manchester City and Liverpool.

The brilliant Belgian, Edin Hazar, opened the scoring after a great effort by Ross Barclay to recover the ball to score his seventh goal and strengthen his lead for the top scorer.

At the start of the second half, Barclay added a second free kick by Brazilian Willyan and Frenchman Olivier Giroux-Scissier gave Barclay a 50-minute lead.
