British and Swedish scientists have discovered that low-IQ animals do not understand true beauty and have experimented with fish to prove it.
According to the journal Nature Ecology & Evolution, experts at the Universities of Stockholm and London initially thought that all females would choose the most beautiful male only for continued birth. It became clear that there was a need for a certain "intellectual" level to determine the beauty of animals introduced for mating
The subject has been demonstrated on the Juppi ornamental fish, whose brain controls one gene, and its color diversity related to the activity of the genes in the male chromosomes responsible for sexual selection.
Male control of males was reflected at different levels of neuronal activity, which worked the same way for both smart and dumb females. The animals of the first group (smart) often chose beautiful partners, while the dumb fish did not characterize the color diversity of males and chose their partners indiscriminately.
Experts concluded that the relationship between intelligence and beauty in the animal world is a very complex process that has not yet been revealed.
