Egypt reveals the date of opening the pyramid "Khafre" visitors
Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities announced that the second pyramid of the three famous Giza pyramids will open to tourists this week after the completion of the two-month restoration work.
A ministry statement said Wednesday that the pyramid of King Khafra, one of the three major pyramids that adorn the Giza governorate adjacent to Cairo, will be ready to receive tourists from Thursday.
The director of the effects of the pyramid plateau, Ashraf Mohieddin, said that the restoration work included stairs leading to the pyramid, changes in the internal lighting system, and strengthening weak points in the corridors of the pyramid and the burial chamber.
The Associated Press quoted a source in the ministry, that the third pyramid, the pyramid of King Mkawra, will be closed to start similar restoration.
The famous pyramids of Giza, listed on UNESCO's World Heritage List, are the fourth in the ancient Egyptian era and are among the most famous monuments of the world.
