Explosive parcels reach Obama, Clinton and the White House and panic

The US Secret Service intercepted explosive packages on its way to the White House and the offices of former US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, The New York Times reported.
CNN said the secret service intercepted an explosive device on its way to the White House shortly after intercepting two other packages sent to Obama and Clinton.

The secret service was intercepted by secret service agents in Washington early on Wednesday, while the parcel, addressed to Clinton in Westchester County late on Tuesday, was intercepted by a technician in the CIA, Intelligence monitors the mail from her office.

"The two parcels were immediately identified during routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were handled appropriately," the statement said.

He added that the agency "initiated a large-scale criminal investigation to determine the source of the parcel and identify those responsible."

The Time Warner building, which houses CNN and other channels, was evacuated in a precautionary measure.

An explosive parcel was sent to the home of US billionaire George Sures in New York on Tuesday and was blown up by security in a nearby forest area.
