Federer shakes up and ousts Shtroff from Basel

By Playfuls Team Roger Federer beat the German Jan-Lennard Shtroff 6-3 7-5 on Thursday to reach the quarter-finals of the Basel Open.
The first seed came in for the second half of his second-round match against Struff, but after a 3-1 draw, the 37-year-old responded with five consecutive runs in 13 minutes to take the first set.

Each player kept sending him in the second set until the 11th when he made two easy mistakes, including a double error at the point of his break.

Federer kept easily ahead of him to complete his third win over Shtroff this year, winning his 17th straight victory in the tournament in a retreat in 2014.

After defeating Basel in 2014 and 2015, Federer missed the 2016 championship because of injury, but won it again the following year.

Second-seeded Alexander Zverev beat Australia's Alexei Popereen 6-4, 6-4 to secure his 51th victory this season.

Zverev, who is fourth in the UEFA Champions League this season, lost two points to his first-ever return on his way to victory.

Stephanos Tetipas, the fourth-seeded Greek player to win the title of the professional tournament, won the Stockholm Open a few days ago, beating German Peter Jojevicch 6-3-6-1 to continue his brilliant career this season.
