James is looking to reverse the bad Lakers equation

The American star, LeBron James, is looking into the heart of the Los Angeles Lakers' bad-form equation in the final years of the NBA, when he takes his colors for the first time next season.

"I like the challenge of helping a team get to places where they have not been," James told ESPN.

"It is clear that the Lakers have not reached the playoffs in recent years, but the Lakers and its historic mark match the great ones."

"Being part of it is fantastic not only for me, but for my family and the history of basketball in general."

James spoke on Monday for the first time since leaving the Cavaliers and joining the Lakers in the Western region.

The 33-year-old is in his 16th season in the NBA, having won the title three times and reaching the final nine times, including eight in a row.

James agreed to join the Lakers for four seasons for $ 154 million, having led the Cavaliers to the league final in the past four years.

James gave Cleveland his first major title since 1964, when he led the Cavaliers to the 2016 title, but lost 3 times in the final against the Golden State Warriors. He then decided to defend the colors of the Lakers in an effort to restore the glory of the club.

The Lakers won 35 wins against 47 last season, and have not reached the playoff since 2013, scoring 16 times. The second round of the playoffs has not passed since Kobe Bryant led him to the 2009 and 2010 titles.

James is seventh in the league's historic standings (31,308 points) and has two Olympic golds in 2008 and 2012 with the US.
