Russia talks about the "wealth fund" to finance Egypt's nuclear plant
Russian Finance Minister Anton Silwanov said on Thursday that the Ministry of Finance may use the National Wealth Fund to lend money for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Egypt from 2020 or 2021.
Silwanov, who is also Russia's first deputy prime minister, said his country would provide annual funding of between three and four billion dollars.
He said the fund's funds are expected to reach 7 percent of GDP by the end of next year, up from 2.2 percent at the end of 2018.
He said that growth would allow investment in "important projects," according to the agency "Reuters".
The Egyptian and Russian governments signed an agreement to build the Dabaa plant on the northern coast of Egypt in November 2015. The construction of the plant is expected to be completed by 2022.
