Scientists discover the smallest brain of a living organism at all
Scientists have succeeded in identifying the organism that has the smallest brain at all, a marine worm that has a brain that has similar characteristics to the human brain, although its size does not exceed the size of the hair.
Scientists said that the marine worm "Ragworm" is a family worm earth, and has a brain with nerve cells similar to those in the human brain.
"We looked at the 6-day-old worms, and this was certainly one of the smallest traps in the animal kingdom, which one can see," said Dr. Detlev Arndt of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Germany.
"The brains of marine animals are very early, because they start interacting with their environment early. In contrast, mice and flies form their brains at a relatively late stage, with more cells," the Daily Mail reported.
The tiny creature has a transparent head, so it is an inspiration for research and analysis.
Neuroscientists hope that by studying this creature, they will find evidence to help understand human diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other neurological disorders.
By understanding how these diseases can destroy brain tissue, researchers may be able to find the right treatment.
