The devastating winds of Hurricane Michael continue to blow into Georgia's interior, after striking Florida, the most powerful in its history in more than 80 years.
At the height of his power, Michael reached a Category 4 hurricane, the third-strongest hurricane to hit the United States at all.
But weakened, turning into a tropical storm over central Georgia, the National Hurricane Center said Thursday.
The center said in a statement that the tropical storm was about 45 km to the south and southwest of Macon, Georgia, and was accompanied by a wind, with a top speed of 115 kilometers per hour.
The center, based in Miami, said that "the center of Michael is now moving towards south-central Georgia, the wind continues to flow on the center and south of the state, extending across its southeast coast."
