UEFA: England venge for Spain three
LONDON (Reuters) - England defied their hopes of a 3-1 win over Sevilla on Monday in the third round of Group D of the UEFA Champions League.
England, Paquo Alcacer (59) and Sergio Ramos (90 + 7) scored Spain's goals.
The first victory of the English national team in the new continental competition after losing home to Spain 1-2 on 8 September last, and compared him with his host Croatia negative in Zagreb last Friday.
On the other hand, Spain suffered its first loss after beating England and Croatia 6-0 in the second round on September 11, and it lost its first in four games under the leadership of new coach Luis Enrique.
England have strengthened their position in second place with four points, two points behind Spain, both of whom have one game against Croatia in November.
Spain needed to win to reach the semi-finals, with the leaders of each of the four groups in the first level to the finals between June 5 and 9.
The four teams are locked in semi-final matches, and the two winners qualify for a final, while the losers meet in a third-place match.
The winner of the final is a title and a trophy, but the competition also depends on the system of boarding and landing adopted in the national championships, and the goal is to plan for the next versions of the new competition.
