13 killed by shooting in California .. Police do not rule out terrorism


Thirteen people, including the attacker and a police sergeant, were killed in a shooting at a crowded pub and dance hall in Ventura County, west of Los Angeles, California, on Wednesday night, police said.
Police said the shooting took place in a nightclub called Borderline in Thousand Oaks, Ventura, California.

It was also reported that the gunman was later killed after more than 30 bullets were fired at the club's passengers, injuring dozens of people.

Witnesses said the gunman threw smoke bombs before he started shooting at the Borderline, which attracts dance fans and country music.

For his part, Sharif police in Ventura province, Geoff Dean, said that Sergeant Ron Hellus went to the scene of shooting and was shot after entering the building, and later died in hospital.

Din added that about 10 people were shot, while there was no further information immediately on the situation of the victims.

Preliminary reports of the shooting indicated that it was about 11:20 pm at the Borderline Bar & Grill in the town of Thousand Oaks, about 40 miles west of Los Angeles.

According to the pub's website, the pub hosts a "night for the provincial university" every Wednesday, and witnesses said most of the bar was students.
