Elevator US skyscraper floors 84 floors with 6 people

An elevator in a skyscraper in Chicago, United States, collapsed after one of its lift cables was cut off.
The elevator had six people who miraculously escaped death after being swamped by the large box from the 95th floor to the 11th floor.

These people had finished their meal at a fancy restaurant in that tower, before heading to the elevator on their way out.

"Suddenly we heard a loud voice and began to feel the fall," said Jamie Montemayor, 50, who was with his wife in the elevator. "I thought we were dead."

Adding to the complexity of the situation was that the lift stopped at a "blind spot" between the 12th and 11th floors, so there was no door or outlet for people who were stuck out, according to clicklancashire.

Firefighters needed a long time to break through the wall to reach the elevator and rescue the six people, including a pregnant woman.

The authorities announced that the non-interruption of other cables contributed to saving the lives of these people, noting that the elevator will be closed in the tower to ascertain the causes of the accident and work to avoid them in the future.
