New football leaks, known as "football lex", have been published in European media on Friday, including a "suspicious friendship" between FIFA president Gianni Infantino and Swiss prosecutor Reinaldo Arnold.
The leaks, published in a range of media including the German magazine Der Spiegel and the French investigative website Media Bart, showed that Italian-born Italian prosecutor Infinino had granted Arnold - the prosecutor of the Ho-Vallee region - "invitations" His country and Costa Rica at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the FIFA General Assembly in Mexico in May 2016, and the Champions League final in Milan in the same year.
The leaks revealed that in May 2016, Arnold sent an e-mail to Infantino saying, "Thank you very much for the UEFA Champions League final, my younger son will go with my wife."
In response to a question from the European media group that published the documents, FIFA responded by saying that its regulations "allow the president and the secretary-general to invite a certain number of guests to tournaments and FIFA activities."
The media group reported that Arnold was providing Infantino with details of some investigations by the Swiss judiciary.
In April 2016, Arnold told Infantino during Swiss investigations into the EU's signing of a contract on broadcasting rights with an offshore company following leaks known as Panama Lakes ("Panama documents") that he was able to request From the local authorities to issue a statement "explaining that there is no action against you".
He took over the position of secretary-general of the European Union before being elected head of the International Federation in early 2016, following a series of scandals that rocked world football and led to the ouster of former FIFA president Joseph Blatter.
A previous batch of "Football Lakes" dating back to 2016 has shed light on the mechanisms of evasion of a number of names in the world of the game, including Cristiano Ronaldo, a Juventus player of the current and former Real Madrid, who had to reach an agreement with the Spanish authorities pay under € 16.7 million as compensation for tax violations.
