Increased deaths among pregnant women .. Doctors find the cause


NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - A new study showed a rise in the number of deaths of pregnant women in recent years, and also highlighted the two leading causes of women's death during pregnancy.
In a study conducted by the University of Oxford, the death rate of women during pregnancy 9.8 deaths out of the 100,000 pregnant women studied between 2014 and 2016.

The two leading causes of high maternal mortality are obesity and aging.

A previous study of 8.8 deaths per 100,000 pregnant women between 2013 and 2015, and confirmed that the increase in the proportion of deaths due to "high" in the proportion of obesity among pregnant women, in addition to the proportion of elderly women.

Of the reported deaths, 37 percent were due to obesity, which put them at risk of blood clots.

The study also found that pregnant women over the age of 40 were three times more likely to die during pregnancy than pregnant women in their early twenties.

The study recorded 202 deaths of pregnant women in Britain between 2013 and 2015, while the number rose to 225 deaths between 2014 and 2016.
