Labor Party in trouble over "social outreach publications"
British police have investigated "hate crimes within the framework of anti-Semitism" within Labor, the largest opposition party in Britain, following leaks of documents on social networking sites of party members, a statement said Friday.
The police said in a statement that police chief Cressida Dick received on September 4 a "file containing documents following an interview with LBC" and opened a criminal investigation into "some of the allegations contained in these documents."
The public prosecutor in Britain has yet to decide whether the police investigation will lead to criminal charges once it is completed.
In this context, the statement said that the police were seeking "early advice" concerning the investigation of the prosecution.
The author pointed to "evidence in the documents of hate crimes in the context of anti-Semitism, and experts examined the materials" in the file, according to the police statement.
LBC has obtained a file detailing 45 cases involving publications of Labor members on social networking sites.
For his part, confirmed the Labor Party led by Socialist Jeremy Corbin, the police did not communicate with him, but expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation.
"The Labor Party has an effective system of investigating complaints related to any suspected violation of party rules by its members," a party spokesman said.
