Netanyahu in the recent ditch talks to save the Israeli government

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he will hold a "crucial" meeting on Sunday with Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon in an attempt to convince him not to cause early elections.
The majority, which Netanyahu's cabinet won in parliament, was reduced to one deputy following the resignation of Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman and National Union leader Yisrael Beiteinu on Wednesday.

Lieberman resigned in protest at the cease-fire, announced between Israel and Hamas unofficially after violent clashes between the two sides in the Gaza Strip.

Kahloun leads the "all of us" party, calling for early legislative elections "as soon as possible", with the current mandate of the House of Representatives extended until November next year.

"I will meet Moshe Kahlon before the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday in a final attempt to convince him not to topple the government," Netanyahu wrote on his Twitter account.

All Likud members (Netanyahu's party) want to run the country for another full year, "Netanyahu said.

The Education Minister and the leader of the Jewish National Religious Party, Naftali Bennett, are demanding that the Defense Ministry continue to support the coalition. Without this party, Netanyahu's government will also lose most of it in parliament.

On Friday, Netanyahu rejected Bennett's request to hand over the Defense Ministry and announced that he would personally take over the ministry.
