"A river in the sky" .. China dragging clouds and chasing them anywhere

China does not stop working, scientists are looking at almost everything, but the latest ambitious project unveiled at the China International Air Show is the strangest yet.
China unveiled its "Tianhe" project and translated it into Arabic, "the river of heaven". It is the transfer of clouds from one place to another, from the rainy areas to dry areas, for example, and its flow to where it wants.

Officials hope the project will become a reality after four years, with plans to move rain to drought-hit areas, the Mirror newspaper reported.

According to Chinese press reports, 6 satellites will work to form an air corridor through which clouds pass from anywhere to the desired location.

The Shanghai International Aviation Technology Academy said it hoped to achieve this in 2022 and that the first two satellites would be launched in 2020.

The satellites will be able to detect water in the air and then pass through the corridor to the northern Sanjiang Yuan region of Qinghai Province.

State media said the rain-laden clouds would be transported thousands of kilometers away.

At the China International Aviation Exhibition, models for the ambitious project were presented. The project's supervising world is Professor Wang Guangkin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
