LONDON (Reuters) - Dutch national team captain Vergel van Dyck, who receives written instructions on a small paper at the end of the meeting, was overturned by the match between the Netherlands and Germany at the UEFA Champions League on Monday evening.
The Dutch team managed to beat Germany 0-2 to draw a 2-2 draw in the final minutes of the game, to reserve a seat in the semifinals of the championship next summer.
Apparently written instructions on a small paper, delivered to defender Van Dyck by coach Ronald Koman, changed the course of the meeting.
He later revealed that Koman's instructions came to put Liverpool defender as an outspoken striker, next to his teammate Luc de Jong, in the final minutes of the match, prompting Van Dyke to score a volley from inside the penalty area in stoppage time.
