Trump: China wants the war to end commercially with Washington

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - China has sent a list of things it is willing to do to settle trade tensions with the United States and its administration may not have to impose more tariffs, US President Donald Trump said, but said he was not yet satisfied with China's offer.
"China wants an agreement ... They sent a list of things ready to do, which is a big list, but so far it's not acceptable to me," Trump told reporters at the White House.

The 142-item list is "largely complete" but "there are four or five big things left," he said.

"I think we will probably get it," Trump was quoted by Reuters as saying.

Trump has imposed customs duties on imports from China worth $ 250 billion to force Beijing to make concessions on a list of demands that will change the terms of trade between the two countries. China responded by charging import duties on US goods.

The president also threatened to impose customs duties on all remaining Chinese imports, worth about $ 267 billion, if Beijing failed to meet US demands. "We may not have to do that," he said in an interview Friday.
