A private jet crash in New York. The reason is unknown
A person was killed on Saturday when a small private plane carrying three people crashed into the ocean off Long Island Island in southern New York State, CBS News reported.
One body was recovered at around 11 am after the Piper PA-34 crashed.
"Research is still under way," Christopher Isola, chief of police in the village of Kogo, New York, told a news conference. "The coast guard, along with other maritime authorities, will continue the search."
Isola said the cause of the crash was not yet known, nor was the identity of the victim identified, which was immediately found.
People on the beach revealed that the plane fluttered before it crashed, pointing out that "the engine seemed to stop suddenly."
The National Transportation Safety Council (NTSB), in a tweet on its official Twitter account, said it was investigating the incident.
The plane left the Waterbury-Oxford airport in Connecticut on Saturday morning, heading for Charleston Airport in South Carolina.
This is the third fatal accident of a small plane in Long Island this year.
