British police on Wednesday imposed a wide security cordon around parks near the parliament after they found a suspicious parcel and began investigating the incident.
"The police received about 15:40 calls saying there was a suspicious package in the gardens and the emergency services rushed to the scene," a police spokesman was quoted by AFP as saying.
