After "deadly" earthquakes in Indonesia, children are victims of a new accident

Indonesian authorities said Saturday that floods had killed at least 11 children in a school in the northern province of Sumatra and that rescuers were searching for another missing pupil.
The torrential rains hit the Mandeling-Natal region of North Sumatra on Friday, after torrential rains destroyed more than 20 homes.

The police chief in Mandeling Natal, Arsan Sinouhaji, told Reuters the authorities were investigating whether there were other potential victims.

"The district chief is looking into local families if there are missing people because the floods washed away 12 houses and damaged 8 houses badly," he said.

Sinohaji told Reuters that 29 students were in a classroom at the school in the village of Mwara Saladi when the floods raged wildly at the school at 4:15 pm local time on Friday evening.

Pictures of the disaster, published in local media, showed rescuers digging in the mud and rubble of a collapsed building.
