Blood on the river .. A tragic accident for immigrants in Turkey

At least 19 people, including children, were killed Sunday when a truck carrying migrants on a highway crashed into the bottom of a river in western Turkey, state media said.
The accident occurred when a vehicle, believed to be a truck carrying migrants, veered off a highway and fell into the bottom of the western river.

The vehicle was on its way from Iden town to the coastal city of Izmir on the Aegean Sea when it capsized and crashed several meters and fell into the river, according to the official Anatolia news agency.

The identity of the migrants is not yet clear.

Hundreds of thousands of migrants have driven to the sea from the coast of Turkey in recent years in an attempt to reach neighboring Greece, a member of the European Union.

A Turkish-European deal in 2016 sent these migrants to Turkey to drastically reduce border crossings, but many desperate migrants are still trying to make the trip.
