Erdogan acknowledges the lack of liquidity in the Turkish market

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday he knew the Turkish financial market was suffering from a shortage of liquidity and preparations were under way to solve the problem.
Erdogan made the remarks in a speech to leaders of the Justice and Development Party, in the Turkish capital of Ankara, according to Reuters.
The Turkish currency has lost about a third of its value against the dollar this year because of fears over Erdogan's influence on monetary policy and disagreements with Washington.

The central bank held its key interest rate unchanged on Thursday after a sharp increase of 6.25 percentage points last month.

Inflation jumped to around 25 percent in September from a year earlier, hitting its highest level in 15 years, well above the central bank's target of 5 percent.
