Gold falls and swells near a 10-week high


Gold prices fell on Friday as Asian stocks rose, but the yellow metal remained near a 10-week high of the previous session, breaking a fundamental resistance level, boosting optimism about the possibility of higher prices.
Gold fell 0.4 percent in spot trade to $ 1218.86 an ounce by 7:38 GMT, after jumping nearly 2.5 percent on Thursday, its biggest gain since June 2016.


Yellow metal fell 0.4 percent in US futures to $ 1222.30 an ounce.

Among other precious metals, palladium rose 0.9 percent to $ 1,086.75 an ounce, after hitting its highest since January 26 at $ 1096.80 an ounce in the previous session.

Silver was little changed at $ 14.56 an ounce, while platinum fell 0.3 percent to $ 836.50 an ounce.
