How many people will live in 2040? List of the 10 most active countries
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - US researchers predict human life will rise dramatically in the coming decades, but those living in developed countries will be the biggest beneficiaries of the "age jump."
Spain will take the lead in life by 2040, with an average life expectancy of 85.8 years in the European country, and Japan with a life expectancy of 85.7 years, according to the Daily Mail.
Researchers from the University of Washington, Washington, have relied on current health data for countries around the world and have raised expectations of health disorders, such as obesity, diabetes, blood pressure and lung cancer.
The study showed that the world will see a decline in deaths due to infectious epidemics, but other diseases will affect people, such as cancer and kidney problems.
Singapore ranked third in the world with 85.4 years, Switzerland ranked fourth with 85.2 years, while Portugal and Italy came in fifth place with 84.5 years.
In addition, the list of the top 10 countries in 2040 included France, Luxembourg, Australia and Israel.
In contrast, developing countries will see little improvement in life expectancy, but ages will remain limited, with estimates showing that the citizens of the Kingdom of Lesotho (pocket in South Africa) will be the least fortunate with a life of only 57.3 years.
