The Swiss engineering group ABB is seeking to build a new plant in Shanghai, China, at a cost of $ 150 million, enabling robots to assemble sophisticated robots.
The new plant will be near the ABB robotics technology complex in China and is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2020 and produce equipment for China and other countries in Asia.
China is expanding its workforce of robots with rising human labor costs.
One of every three devices sold in 2017 worldwide, ABC said it went to China, which bought nearly 138,000 devices.
The new 75,000-square-foot plant will use software that allows humans and robots to work together safely, the company said.
She added that the "daily" machines that are manufactured, designed to work together with man, will also perform many tasks of assembling the small pieces required for the manufacture of robots, "ABB."
The company did not disclose the number of new workers in the factory, but said it would increase the dependence on labor from robots, which currently number more than 2,000 in China.
