Iran .. The arrest of a member of the army on the "Ahwaz attack"
Iran has arrested a member of its army for the attack on a military parade in the city of Ahwaz last month that killed 25 people, the Fars news agency reported.
The Ahwazi National Resistance Organization, an opposition group of Iranian Arabs of a pan-Arab state in the oil-rich province of Khuzestan, claimed responsibility for the attack. He also announced an organization calling for his responsibility. Neither group provided evidence of its responsibility.
"Eleven people were arrested and one person, all of them from the army, was arrested and the case was sent to Tehran," Fars quoted Gholamhossein Mohseni Aghai, a spokesman for the judiciary, as saying.
Agae gave no further details.
Activists in the Ahwaz area accused Iranian security forces of arresting their colleagues after the attack.
Separately, the Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi as saying his ministry had helped uncover and destroy 300 "extremist" groups.
Alawi did not give further details on the identity of the extremists, nor did he say when the militant cells were revealed.
