Liverpool reveals Manny post surgery
LONDON (Reuters) - Senegal striker Sadio Mani has been surgically injured after a hand injury during a "black trange" match against Sudan in the African qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon in 2019, Liverpool said on Wednesday.
Mani was badly injured during Senegal's 3-0 win over Sudan in Dakar on Saturday to miss the return match in Sudan, which Senegal also won 1-0 on Tuesday.
Mani joined the injured list in Liverpool, who will be on Saturday to face Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.
"Liverpool confirm that Sadio Mani is undergoing surgery today, as a result of an injury in his hand during his participation with Senegal," Reuters quoted the club as saying.
"The surgery has been successful and has been supervised by the club's doctors, and Mani's recovery will continue over the next couple of days," added Liverpool.
Liverpool midfielder Nabi Keita had suffered a muscle injury and was out of the field in his 1-1 draw with Rwanda on Tuesday. Mohamed Salah left Egypt 4-1 at Eto'o Swatini in Cairo on Friday, Thigh.
Defender Virgil van Dijk missed the Netherlands' 1-1 draw with Belgium on Tuesday because he still felt the impact of a rib injury during Southampton last month.
