Mbabé reviews and expels coaches Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille
Cillian Mbabi took the lead as a substitute and used his amazing speed to score a goal and help set up another goal for Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 away to Olympique Marseille in a flaming Ligue 1 game that saw the dismissal of the coach of each team due to opposition to the referee.
Paris St Germain's Thomas Thoechel and his Marseille counterpart Rodi Garcia were sent off while the capital kept their perfect record in the league, winning their 11th consecutive victory thanks to Mbabey and Julian Drexler.
Paris Saint-Germain top the standings with 33 points, eight ahead of second-placed Lille, while Marseille are now 14 points behind fifth.
The trio of Mbabi, Eddison Cavani and Adrian Rabio remained on the bench after PSG tied with Napoli in the Champions League last Wednesday, and the Cameroonian Eric-Maxim Choupo-Mouteng began the attack next to Neymar.
Marseille drew close to the opening but a superb header from Lucas Ocampos was met with a more spectacular save from goalkeeper Alphonse Ariola, while Kevin Strutmann removed PSG's Angel de Maria on the line in injury time in the first half.
The rhythm of the game did not calm down after the break and with the increase of strong interventions, referee Benoit Bastian fired Coach Tauchil after a sharp side-by-side discussion.
Mbabi took the lead in the 62nd minute and did not waste much time before opening the scoring, using his speed to overtake Abubakar Kamara before putting the ball past goalkeeper Steve Mandanda three minutes into the field.
With the support of the fans, Marseille gave everything they could to equalize and eliminated a goal scored by Costas Mitruglu in the last minutes because of a violation committed by Stutman against Marcinius at the beginning of the game.
But the television replays showed that it was the PSG who ran towards Strutmann, and when coach Garcia lost his cool when talking to the fourth referee, he also kicked out the referee.
Drexler confirmed the victory of Paris St Germain at the end of stoppage time after a counter-attack involving Mbabi also, and made the German score 2-0 after a pass from Neymar.
