Mongolia enters the Kim-Trump line
The Republic of Mongolia has invited North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to visit the country's capital, which was willing to host the historic summit between Kim and Donald Trump.
The call comes amid expectations that Kim and Trump, who met in Singapore in June, will hold a second summit that has yet to be set.
Mongolia sent the invitation to Kim on 10 October without a specific date for the visit, according to the office of the President of the Republic, Khalthma Batulga.
"Kim can visit Mongolia" when he feels comfortable, "an official at the Patulga office said, confirming a report published Monday by the official North Korean news agency.
Mongolia offered to host the historic summit between Trump and Kim in June, but chose to hold the unprecedented historic summit in Singapore, agreeing on a statement on nuclear disarmament on the Korean Peninsula.
Last week, Trump said a short list of three or four places had been prepared to host their next meeting, but it would probably not be in Singapore again, nor was it given a specific date.
Since taking office at the end of 2011, Kim has made three foreign visits, all to China, this year.
Mongolia, located between China and Russia, is one of the few countries to establish normal relations with the North Korean regime.
This year, the two countries celebrated 70 years of diplomatic relations.
