Pompeo: Iran is the first state sponsor of terrorism

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed that Iran is the world's first state sponsor of terrorism, with Germany handing over to an Iranian diplomat accused of plotting a terrorist attack.

The authorities in Germany announced yesterday the extradition of Asadullah Asadi, an Iranian official working under diplomatic cover, to Belgium for his role in planning Iranian terrorist attacks, aimed at blowing up demonstrations of the Iranian opposition near Paris on June 30.

In this regard, the Secretary of State said that the extradition of Germany to the Iranian diplomat to Belgium confirms that Iran is the first state sponsor of terrorism in the world.

In a statement, Pompeo said the plan showed Tehran still supported terrorism in Europe.

Pompeo pointed out that the United States will continue to work with its allies, and partners to address the danger of the Iranian regime.
