Putin: Trump wants to reform US-Russian relations
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday that his US counterpart, Donald Trump, is listening to him and is keen to improve deteriorating US-Russian relations, despite the complexity of the situation in the domestic political scene in the United States.
Putin said in response to a question on his position that Trump was only listening to himself at a news conference in the Russian resort of Sochi on the Black Sea.
The Russian president said he believed Trump wanted to restore stability to the troubled relations between Moscow and Washington, adding that the idea that the US president was only listening to himself was incorrect.
"He may be acting in this way with someone else, but in this case the blame lies on the other side, I have had a natural and very professional dialogue with him and of course he listens.
Reuters quoted Putin as saying, "It is normal that the two presidents have differences on many things, noting that this is usual in discussions with foreign leaders.
