Three crew members were killed by poisonous material, which also injured 11 crew members of an Iranian cargo ship in the Caspian Sea, the official IRNA news agency reported.
The crew of the Nazemahar was taken to a hospital in the Azerbaijani city of Baku but the three sailors died before arriving at the hospital, the report said on Friday, adding that the case was under investigation.
The ship was carrying grain from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan.
There was no indication of what the deadly substance was and Irna did not say whether there was suspicion of a criminal act or not.a
