Two weeks after his abduction, the release of the youngest African billionaire

The youngest billionaire on the African continent returned home safely after being kidnapped two weeks ago in front of a luxury hotel in Tanzania, the company said on Saturday.
Tanzanian businessman Mohammad Diugi, 43, the chief executive of the MTL group, was kidnapped on arrival on a physical training course in Tanzania's commercial capital of Dar es Salaam last week.

Forbes estimates his net worth at $ 1.5 billion, making him the 17th richest continent on the continent and the smallest billionaire on the continent.

"I came home safely," the group quoted him as saying on Twitter, without giving further details on how to release him.

The company also thanked those who worked for his release, including the police.

Tanzanian Environment Minister Genori Makamba, a former colleague of Diugi, said the kidnappers released Diuji by throwing him in a field in the early hours of Saturday.

The Diuji family had offered one billion Tanzanian shillings ($ 44,000) as a reward for information leading to his release.

MTL operates in various fields such as manufacturing, agriculture, transport, infrastructure, agro-processing and telecommunications, and covers 11 African countries.
