The Swedish activist who prevented the deportation of an Afghan refugee faces imprisonment
Swedish authorities are preparing to try the Swedish young woman, who became famous around the world after appearing in a video and is preventing the deportation of an Afghan immigrant from a plane.
The 21-year-old young woman, Ellen Ayerson, stopped an airplane carrying an Afghan refugee to be deported from Sweden to Turkey, so she managed to take the Afghan refugee off the plane and keep him in Sweden.
The video, published by Airston, took millions of views around the world last July and has earned worldwide admiration for its humanity and courage.
But the Swedish news site "Freya Tidar" later revealed that the Afghan man defended by Eerson is not only a temporary migrant, but a convicted criminal beating his two daughters and his wife, and "skin" with a long charger.
The Swedish prosecutor's office announced on Friday that the Swedish activist will be tried for "violating the laws of navigation," according to published newspaper "Independent".
Earson refused to obey the pilot's orders, a misdemeanor that could result in six months in prison and a financial penalty. Erson will be tried in the Gothenburg District Court, and the trial has not yet been scheduled.
