US sanctions targeting the "Basij" and Iranian banks and companies


The US Treasury Department on Tuesday imposed new sanctions on Iran, including the Basij and networks supporting its infrastructure, including five investment companies and three banks.
Administration officials said the Basij was involved in internal Iranian violence and human rights abuses, such as recruiting children to fight in Syria.
