A gang avenges farmers by cutting off their fingers

Authorities in Cameroon have launched an intensive campaign to search for gunmen who cut the fingers of four farmers at a rubber farm in the troubled southwestern region of the country.
The attack is the second of its kind in less than a week by gunmen who say the victims have defied instructions not to work on rubber plantations.

David Ebe, 34, a worker at a rubber farm, said the gunmen attacked him and three of his colleagues on Thursday.

Conflicts broke out in English-speaking Cameroonian regions in 2016 when teachers and lawyers complained of discrimination by the French-speaking majority in the educational and judicial system.

The government responded with a repressive campaign, while the gunmen took control of the violence.
