After the President of Ethiopia .. a woman at the head of the Supreme Court

The Ethiopian parliament on Thursday elected for the first time a woman president of the country's Supreme Court, just days after a woman took office as president.
The appointment of Miyazha Ashifani as Supreme Court President follows several decisions by Prime Minister Abe Ahmed Ali in October, most notably the appointment of Sahl Vard Zoudi as the country's first female president and the appointment of 10 women ministers to a cabinet of 20 ministers.

"Ethiopia's march to make the country's main centers equally divided between men and women continues," Prime Minister Vitsum Ariga's adviser said on Twitter.

"Miaza Ashenafi is one of the most experienced lawyers in Ethiopia and is active in defending women's rights."

She has worked in the Supreme Court, participated in the drafting of the Ethiopian Constitution, and founded the Association of Women Lawyers in Ethiopia.

She was also popular when she defended a 14-year-old girl accused of killing a man who raped her so he could marry her.

The episode turned into a "Dover" movie, which was shown in 2014, and actress Angelina Jolie was his producer.
