Real Madrid are third behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in terms of spending on players in the last four years, according to statistics published by the Spanish newspaper AS.
The newspaper said that the management of Florentino Perez, president of the Royal Club, has significantly reduced spending over the past four years, which reflected negatively on the results during the last season with the decline of the level of stars.
Since 2014, the Blanco has spent € 438.7 million on players, against € 872.6 million for Barcelona and 567.9 for Atletico Madrid.
In other words, Real Madrid spent less than 433.9 million euros from the Catalan team and 129.2 from their rivals in the Spanish capital.
A number of players have left the club without compensating, such as Bibi, Alvaro Morata and Cristiano Ronaldo, which has deepened the team's crisis this season.
Real Madrid suffered a severe loss last week against arch-rivals Barcelona 5-1 in the tenth round of the Spanish league, and currently occupies the ninth place with 14 points, seven points behind leaders Barcelona.
