The rare gray fox appears for the first time in a quarter century
Residents of a British city were surprised by the "gray fox" in a public park, marking the first time in 25 years that a person has ever glimpsed this rare animal.
The gray fox appeared in a garden in the city of Alsiger in Cheshire, and was cared for by a charity on animal rights.
The rare fox was placed in a "temporary house" and given the name "Shadow" because of its distinctive color, according to the Sun newspaper.
"This is the first time this fox has been in sight for 25 years," RSPCA said, noting that Shadow is in good health and will be returned to its owners soon if they are found.
If the owner is not identified, the rare fox will be handed over to a "specialist" for dealing with this species, the agency said.
