Trump raises a storm of controversy through a "film poster"
Shortly after officials in his administration announced the re-imposition of sanctions on Iran, US President Donald Trump sought to promote this point in an "unconventional" way.
Trump published a poster in the form of the famous "Game of Thrones" poster, with the words "Sanctions coming," in the same way as "Winter is Coming", best known for the series.
Trump put the date November 5 down, in reference to when sanctions will be imposed on Iran, as in the posters promoting new films in cinemas.
Trump posted the picture on his Twitter account on Friday, capturing more than 50,000 "re-tweet" and 150,000 "impressive" hits on the site.
The Trump label sparked a storm of tweets on Twitter, with some objecting to sabotaging the famous series, others saying it was a violation of property rights, and others were surprised by the way the US president used it to promote sanctions.
"We were not aware of this message, and we prefer not to use our brand for political purposes," commented HBO, producer of the giant US film "The Game of Thrones."
The Trump administration has announced the re-imposition of all US sanctions on Iran, which were lifted in accordance with the nuclear agreement of 2015, and Washington added 700 people and entity to its list of sanctions against Iran.
The United States is preparing to re-impose a second round of sanctions on Iran, aimed at vital sectors of Iran's economy, on November 5 as part of a US strategy to paralyze the regime's ability to continue destabilizing the Middle East.
