A Turkish woman was able to obtain a divorce ruling after the judge supported her argument that she did not convince the husband because of her "stupidity" in his view.
A Turkish court of cassation ruled in favor of a wife who complained about her husband's insistence on inviting his friends to dinner many times, according to the newspaper Hurriet.
"Your home is not a restaurant, and your wife does not cook for you," said the judge at his verdict.
The wife herself filed a divorce two years ago, claiming that she had been subjected to violence because of her refusal to "exaggerated generosity" from her point of view, and many calls to his friends to eat dinner at home.
A civil court in the Girz district of northern Sinop province ruled in favor of the wife, but the husband did not like it and decided to appeal, before the Court of Cassation upheld the ruling.
The Court of Cassation declared that the man invited his friends despite his wife's disapproval, noting that inviting men guests to the house, even once, without the consent of the wife, requires divorce.
