Turkey's leading medical doctor arrested after "sexual charges"


Turkish authorities arrested a prominent female doctor on charges of sexual harassment after paying his patients to watch sex movies in his clinic.
The arrest of Doctor Fekri Sevilin follows criminal proceedings against two of his patients, claiming that they had been harassed at his women's clinic in the Nishantashi district of the European part of Istanbul.

Doctor Fikri rejected charges against him, while police confiscated computers and telephones in his clinic as part of the investigation into the case.

The newspaper "Sabah" in its issue on Monday that Fikri was arrested after the court had a "strong criminal suspicion" against him.

The court added that the arrest was the result of his letters to two patients, found in an intellectual telephone with sexual connotations, according to the English-language newspaper "Harriet".

The arrest warrant also stated that the gynecologist had paid his patients to see sex movies in his clinic and was asking questions that violated women's privacy during the screening.

The doctor was held in a prison in Istanbul until his trial.
