After the protests Saturday .. "Announcements expected" to the French president

A spokesman for the French government announced that President Emmanuel Macaron, will announce a number of important actions in the coming days, after the violent protests organized by the "yellow jackets" against the high cost of living.
"Of course, the president of the republic will make important announcements," spokesman Benjamin Grevo told LCI television, without giving details of the exact timing or what Macron might announce.

Senior allies of Macaron announced on Friday that the president would address the nation this week.

Macron has already canceled a planned increase in the fuel tax, but the move failed to end the "yellow jackets" protests calling for tax cuts, raising minimum wages and improving retirement benefits.

On Sunday, the Interior Ministry announced the detention of 1,220 people across France during the Saturday protests, a rate not seen in years.

Police searched demonstrators at train stations across the country, confiscating almost everything from metal balls to tennis rackets.

The Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum were reopened on Sunday after being closed amid riots on Saturday.

The shops assessed the damage of looting Sunday and removed the broken glass, after closing on Saturday at the height of the holiday shopping season.

Heavy winds and rain hit Paris on Saturday night, complicating cleaning efforts on Sunday.

Scattered tear gas cylinders scattered across the Champs-Elysées' floor were scattered, while protesters took down the wood that protected Parisian shop windows and threw torches and other projectiles.

French riot police repeatedly confronted them with tear gas and water cannons.
