Iranian minister joins Twitter .. People are "deprived"

Although the Iranian government banned its people from using Twitter or Facebook, the Iranian oil minister decided to create a Twitter account in order to achieve "dynamic communication with the public."
"I joined Twitter in order to achieve a more dynamic and effective connection with the local and foreign audiences," said Minister Benjamin Namdar Zankana on Twitter on Wednesday.

For its part, the Iranian Oil Ministry confirmed that the new account is already the account of its minister.

Ironically, Zanganeh said he was seeking better communication with the local public, although the Iranian people would not be able to read the tweets.

The CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, commented on the issue when Iranian President Hassan Rowhani joined Twitter.

"Good evening, President, can the people of Iran read your praises?"

The Iranian government banned Twitter and Facebook in 2009, during the presidential election, for fear of using social media to organize demonstrations.
