Russia: America ignored the offer to see a Russian missile controversial

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The United States has ignored Moscow's proposal to test a Russian missile that Washington says has violated a nuclear weapons treaty, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
Lavrov said Wednesday that Russia had offered during talks in Geneva earlier this week that US experts would see the controversial missile.

He said US negotiators rejected the offer, repeating Washington's demand that Russia destroy the weapons it claims are in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Lavrov attacked the United States' refusal to consider the Russian offer for a closer look at the missile, saying it reflected Washington's desire to abandon the treaty.

"The meeting was disappointing, as it is clear that Russia is continuing its material breach of the treaty," Undersecretary of State Andrea Thompson said in a statement Tuesday.
