Raising the legal age of smoking to 100 years!

Many personal or national initiatives are adopted to keep people away from smoking, but what an American state may offer may be more than anything else in this context.
The state of Hawaii in the United States is considering a new bill that will gradually increase the legal age for cigarette purchases from 2020 to an impossible age, to prevent it at all in 2024.

Under a bill introduced by Democratic politician Richard Cregan, the sale of cigarettes to anyone under the age of 100 will be banned in 2024, Sky News reported Tuesday.

The law prohibits the sale of cigarettes to anyone under the age of 30 in 2020, with the minimum age for smoking increasing to 40 in 2021 and 50 in 2022 and 60 in 2023 and 100 in 2024.

Although Hawaii has the toughest laws on selling cigarettes, Mr Cregan believes more work is needed to block what he sees as "the most dangerous threat to humanity."

Under current laws, people who wish to buy cigarettes in Hawaii must be at least 21 years old, but the proposed law would ban smoking at all in the future if adopted.

Craig, a former doctor and smoker, said the bill was structured so that it could withstand any legal challenge. "The state is obliged to protect public health."

"We do not allow people to have access to narcotics, for example, or any medical drugs." "This is more lethal and more dangerous than any harmful drugs."

Smoking is the leading cause of death in the United States, with about half a million deaths each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
