Ford calls for more than 1 million cars due to "fatal flaw"

The Ford Motor Company on Thursday announced the recall of about 1.5 million cars to repair fuel tank systems that could lead to possible crashes or accidents.
The recovery will include the Ford Focus, produced between 2012 and 2018 with 2.0-liter engines to handle valve problems, which could lead to deformation in the fuel tank and inaccurate fuel level readings, the company said in a statement.

"This may lead to a halt during driving or inability to restart the vehicle, which may increase the risk of accidents."

The recovery includes about 1.3 million vehicles in the United States, 136,300 cars in Canada and 44,500 cars in Mexico.

Ford said it had received no reports of any injuries or accidents due to the problem.
